ESCONDIDO - Ready to climb over some huge boulders? (Don’t worry parents! They’re mostly flat.) This trail winds along a lakeshore between trees filled with chatty birds and bushes hiding scurrying squirrels. Look up and you will see birds soaring overhead. There are pelicans fishing on the water and coots running across it. The huge pelicans migrate here, so hike before it gets too warm. Unlike most of our trails, this one is below a road. However, the birds and scenery drown out the noise. Happy birding! (April 2022)
*This trail is not open on weekdays September-December. It's always open on weekends.
